Ingersoll Sanitarium
355 Oxford Avenue. Built in 1870 as the residence of William Waterworth.
In 1900, the doctors in town joined in establishing a Public Hospital in the William Waterworth house, on the westside of Oxford Ave., close to the North Town Line. This was a two storey white brick house. The hospital provided sufficient accommodation at the time. Modern equipment was installed. Babies were born here instead of in the home, which was a new innovation.
